LoBo Trail – Jay Road Connections Project

Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) Trail - Jay Road Connections Project

Virtual Public Meeting, April 27, 2023

Boulder County’s Community Planning & Permitting Department invited the public to a virtual meeting presentation for the Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) Trail – Jay Road Connection project on April 27, 2023. The project team provided a brief project history, presented the alignment and design details of the trail, and anticipated project timeline. Participants had an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Project Overview

Boulder County, in partnership with the City of Boulder, is currently working on final engineering design plans for the Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) Trail-Jay Rd Connection Project. As shown on the map below, the trail extension will begin at the Cottonwood Trail at Jay Rd and be aligned on the south side of Jay Road until turning north at the intersection of Jay Road and Spine Road. The trail alignment will continue north on the west side of Spine to connect to the existing terminus of the LoBo. A 30% design plan set for the project will be posted here once finalized.

Previous Project Steps

The Jay Road Connections Study and the Jay Road Connections Conceptual Designs were completed in 2020. The Jay Road Connections Study evaluates multiple options to extend the Longmont-to-Boulder (LOBO) Trail from the city’s Cottonwood Trail at Jay Road to the existing terminus of the trail in Gunbarrel.

The Study examines potential alignment options along the corridor. Boulder County conducted an extensive public outreach process as part of this project, including an open house in April 2018 to present preliminary connection alternatives and one in June 2018 to review updated options.

Once the preferred options were identified, conceptual designs were developed for each of the two preferred alignments for future design and construction.
