Vacation (V) Review Process

Rights-of-way and easements are sometimes dedicated or platted and then… nothing. The road is never developed, the utilities are rerouted, and the space is otherwise underutilized. If they are not being used, adjacent property owners can request the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners release these spaces from public ownership. This process is called a Vacation.

To learn more, see Road and Easement Vacation Requirements and Article 10 of the Boulder County Land Use Code. We suggest you submit questions via the Ask a Planner Form before applying for a Vacation review.
