Injured hiker rescued on the Bluebell-Baird Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at approximately 9:07 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of an injured hiker on the Bluebell-Baird Trail near Chautauqua Park.

A City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks ranger was notified by other hikers in the area of the injured hiker, as well.

The hiker a 24-year-old female was visiting from Maryland. While hiking on the trail she slipped on rocks and sustained a non-life-threatening injury to her lower body. Members from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group used a technical litter evacuation to get her to a trailhead. The injured hiker was transported to an area hospital.

Members from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Boulder Fire-Rescue, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and American Medical Response responded to the incident.
