Holiday Tree Recycling

Erie residents can bring their holiday trees to their Recycling Center (1000 Briggs Street). There are two 40-yard bins available for yard waste all year for residents. Please make sure all ornaments, tinsel and decorations are removed from the trees.

Superior residents (ID required) can bring their live holiday trees to the Superior Yard Waste Site (2125 Honey Creek Lane). From Dec. 26 through Jan. 31, the site will have modified hours and will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Superior residents. Please make sure all ornaments, tinsel and decorations are removed from the trees.

Lafayette residents can take advantage of their Three Cart Program where Republic Services will collect unflocked and undecorated holiday trees curbside on a weekly basis from January – March. Trees can be placed at your curb.

Longmont residents can visit any of four satellite Christmas tree drop-off locations between Dec. 26, 2023, through Jan. 7, 2024. Please remove all holiday decorations and lights strands from all trees.

  • Roosevelt Park – In the parking lot south of 8th Avenue and Pratt Street, by Roosevelt Activity Pool.
  • Garden Acres Park – In the parking lot at 18th Avenue and Tulip Street.
  • Kanemoto Park – In the parking lot at South Pratt Parkway and South Coffman Street.
  • Centennial Park – In the parking lot at Alpine Street and Verdant Circle.
  • Longmont Waste Diversion Center – 140 Martin Street

Those with residential curbside compost service can place the tree outside their compost bin on compost collection day. Trees longer than 6 feet should be cut in half. Please remove all ornamentation.

Those without curbside compost collection can drop trees off at the Western Disposal Materials Management Drop-off Center located at 2051 63rd St., Boulder. Trees will be accepted at no charge beginning December 26 through the end of January.

Residents in our mountain communities can visit the Boulder County Nederland Transfer Station, located at 286 Ridge Road. The site will accept holiday tree drop-offs at no charge through January 2024. Please remove all tinsel, garland, ornaments, and lights. The Allenspark Transfer Station is unable to accept holiday tree drop-offs.

Option 1: Republic Services

  • Residents participating in the city-wide solid waste program with Republic Services can dispose of Christmas trees free of charge on their usual compost day during the week of January 4-7, 2022 or January 18-21, 2022.
  • Trees need to be placed next to the compost bin and must be cut in half (each piece no more than 4 feet in length) and tied together with rope or twine. Trees can also be collected as a bulk item. If you have any questions, contact Republic Customer Service 303.286.5400 (Monday-Friday 8 AM – 5 PM) or visit LouisvilleCO.gov/Republic and complete the website contact form.

Option 2: City of Louisville

  • Residents of Louisville can drop off their tree (free of decorations) at the Branch Recycling Site 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 6th and Sunday, January7th.
  • Directions to branch recycle site – From downtown Louisville at the intersection of Main Street and Pine Street, take Pine Street east. It will cross Highway 42 and turn into Empire Road. Remain on Empire Road about 1.3 miles. The recycling site will be on your right just before the Louisville Cemetery.

ID’s will be checked at the gate to ensure Louisville residency.
