Victim/Witness Unit

Victim advocates work one-on-one with crime victims, providing support, information and guidance through the entire court process, including keeping victims informed of the status of their case, contacting witnesses for court appearances and helping maintain case records and files. Community Protection Division

The Community Protection Division attempts to resolve complaints which cover a wide variety of issues encountered by Boulder County consumers. Volunteers and staff attempt to negotiate a fair settlement between consumers and businesses to keep issues out of court, in matters including auto repair, retail sales, contractors, home repair and more. Consumer complaints may originate in-person, or by phone, email or mail.

Volunteers and staff also provide information and resources to all community members on issues of consumer protection such as unwanted phone calls and solicitations, identity theft, undertaking home repairs, banking and credit issues, and debt collection matters. County Court Divisions

Volunteers work with County Court Deputy DAs as arraignment assistants.

During the arraignment process they assist with legal advisements and agreements between the DA’s office and those charged with misdemeanor criminal offenses.

Law Clerk

Law Clerks assist county court DAs with plea bargaining at arraignments and drafting appeal briefs. Law Clerks will also assist both county and district court DAs with legal research, drafting motions, and trial preparation. Law Clerks will have the opportunity to observe trials and participate in training opportunities when available. Law students authorized to appear under the Student Practice Act will have the opportunity to appear in court to argue bond, dispose cases, and prepare and conduct motions hearings and jury trials.

Undergrad Internship

Undergraduate Interns assist the many units contained within the District Attorney’s Office. Interns are provided the opportunity to work with each unit/division of the office on various case management tasks and needs. Interns attend office events, court hearings, jury trials, and a variety of events with both Law Enforcement agencies and Judicial staff. This is a volunteer-based internship aimed at providing entry level legal experience to undergraduate students and recent undergraduate

The application period for the Spring 2024 semester is open December 1^st through December 22^nd. Please complete this DA Internship Application and submit the application to boulderda@bouldercounty.gov . Once the application period closes, we will begin selecting applicants for interviews.
