Public Health Data Resources

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) maintains multiple data resources and exploration tools. A few of them are provided below.

• COHID (Colorado Health Information Dataset)
  This data site provides access to state and local-level data and resources compiled by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and its partners to help understand health and related issues affecting people in Colorado. The data site includes (but is not limited to) live birth and death data, demographic data, cancer incidence data, maternal and child data, suicide data, environmental epidemiology data, and drug overdose data.
• Community Health Equity Maps
  A platform for visualizing geographic disparities for selected social determinants of health, life expectancy estimates, and key health conditions/outcomes across Colorado.
• VISION (Visual Information System for Identifying Opportunities and Needs)
  A tool with chronic disease and behavioral health measures, prioritized and presented with interactive data visualizations.
• Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS)
  HKCS helps us better understand youth health and what factors support youth to make healthy choices. The survey, conducted every two years, is supported by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Department of Human Services. The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus administers the survey. This dashboard allows users to explore the data.

Leading national public health organizations provide data, as well as research evidence and analysis around current public health issues.

• CDC Data and Statistics
  The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. This site includes publications, communications, resources, and tools related to health issues in the United States and abroad.
• Healthy People DATA2020
  Healthy People 2020 is the federal government’s prevention agenda for building a healthier nation. It is a statement of national health objectives designed to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and to establish national goals to reduce these threats. This dashboard allows users to search indicators and see progress towards national goals.
• SAMHSA Data and Dissemination
  The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides data around key indicators of substance abuse and mental health in their Annual Report.
